CO2 emissions United States 2020

United States reduced CO2 emissions

In United States, CO2 emissions during 2020 have fallen 500.239 megatons, 10.07% compared to 2019.

CO2 emissions in 2020 were 4,466.731 megatons, making United States is the second country for CO2 emissions in 2020 in the ranking of countries for CO2 emissions, made up of 184 countries, in which the countries are ranked from least to most pollutant.

In addition to its total emissions of CO2 into the atmospher, which logically depend, among other variables, on the country's population, it is convenient to analyze the behavior of its emissions per inhabitant. In the table we see that per capita CO2 emissions in United States, have decreased in 2020, in which they have been 13.48 tons per inhabitant.

United States belongs to the group of countries that emit the most CO2 per inhabitant.

Finally, it is interesting to observe the behavior f CO2 emissions per 1000 dollars of GDP, which measures, for the same country, the "environmental efficiency" with which it is produced over time. In the last period, United States, has emitted 0.22 kilos for every $ 1,000 of GDP, a lower figure than in 2019.

In the table we can see the evolution of CO2 emissions, which have decreased since 2010, as have per capita emissions and as well as CO2 emissions per $ 1,000 of GDP.

Total carbon dioxide emissions have also decreased compared to 2015, although per capita emissions have increased in this period.
