In United States there were 10.8 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 10.69 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 31,422 recorded suicide cases in 2003, 25,153 were men suicides and 6,269 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 17.6 per 100,000 men and for women 4.2 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In United States suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 16,528 homicides in United States, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 1.9 suicides.
