Uruguay reported 14.74 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 10.34 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 494 recorded suicide cases in 2005, 378 were men suicides and 117 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 23.62 per 100,000 men and for women 6.78 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Uruguay suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 190 homicides in Uruguay, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.6 suicides.
