Ukraine has a very high suicide rate

In 2005 occurred 12,187 suicides in Ukraine. This year, 1,946 fewer people committed suicide than in 2004. In 2005, on average 33 Ukrainians committed suicide every day.

Ukraine had 26.07 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 10.34 suicides per 100,000 people.

Ukraine has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 12,187 recorded suicide cases in 2005, 10,169 were men suicides and 2,017 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 47.14 per 100,000 men and for women 8.01 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Ukraine suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 3,030 homicides in Ukraine, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 4 suicides.
