Syria has a low suicide rate

In 2007 around 355 suicides occurred in Syria, 16 more than in 2006.

Syria reported 1.77 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Syria has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 355 recorded suicide cases in 2007, 280 were men suicides and 75 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 2.68 per 100,000 men and for women 0.73 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Syria. However, in Syria in 2007 there were there were 533 homicides, then, homicides are more common than suicides. There were 1.5 homicides per suicide.
