Suicides decreased in Eswatini

In 2007 around 170 suicides occurred in Eswatini, 4 less than in 2006.

Eswatini reported 16.75 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 10 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 170 recorded suicide cases in 2007, 128 were men suicides and 43 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 24.48 per 100,000 men and for women 7.61 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Eswatini suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 121 homicides in Eswatini, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.4 suicides.
