Peru has a low suicide rate

In 2007 around 407 suicides occurred in Peru, 178 more than in 2006. In Peru, on average, at least one suicide happens every year.

Peru reported 1.4 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Peru has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 407 recorded suicide cases in 2007, 266 were men suicides and 141 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 1.9 per 100,000 men and for women 1 per 100,000 female.
