Suicides increase in Niger

In 2007 occurred 719 suicides in Niger. This year, 38 more people committed suicide than in 2006. In Niger, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Niger had 4.9 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 719 recorded suicide cases in 2007, 460 were men suicides and 258 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 6.11 per 100,000 men and for women 3.51 per 100,000 female.
