By 2007, suicides in Malaysia increased by 28 people to at 1,416 suicides In 2007, on average 4 Malaysians committed suicide every day.

In Malaysia there were 5.23 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 1,416 recorded suicide cases in 2007, 1,020 were men suicides and 396 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 7.33 per 100,000 men and for women 3 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Malaysia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 652 homicides in Malaysia, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.2 suicides.
