There are 5 suicides per day in Malaysia

In 2015 around 1,752 suicides occurred in Malaysia, 65 more than in 2014. In 2015, on average 5 Malaysians committed suicide every day.

Malaysia reported 5.62 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.51 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 1,752 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 1,317 were men suicides and 435 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 8.26 per 100,000 men and for women 2.88 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Malaysia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 498 homicides in Malaysia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.5 suicides.
