There are 18 suicides per day in Iran

In 2005 around 6,719 suicides occurred in Iran, 321 more than in 2004. In 2005, on average 18 Iranians committed suicide every day.

Iran reported 9.68 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.34 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 6,719 recorded suicide cases in 2005, 4,128 were men suicides and 2,590 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 11.59 per 100,000 men and for women 7.5 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Iran suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 2,015 homicides in Iran, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.3 suicides.
