There are 5 suicides per day in Myanmar

In 2007 occurred 1,813 suicides in Myanmar. This year, 41 more people committed suicide than in 2006. In 2007, on average 5 Burmese committed suicide every day.

Myanmar had 3.76 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 1,813 recorded suicide cases in 2007, 1,049 were men suicides and 764 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 4.34 per 100,000 men and for women 3.15 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Myanmar suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 749 homicides in Myanmar, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.4 suicides.
