Suicides increase in Bosnia and Herzegovina

In 2007 occurred 289 suicides in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This year, 14 more people committed suicide than in 2006.

Bosnia and Herzegovina had 7.51 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 289 recorded suicide cases in 2007, 226 were men suicides and 63 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 11.98 per 100,000 men and for women 3.22 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Bosnia and Herzegovina suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 66 homicides in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 4.4 suicides.
