Belize - Intentional self-harm

By 2005, suicides in Belize increased by 5 people to at 14 suicides

In Belize there were 5.05 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.34 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 14 recorded suicide cases in 2005, 13 were men suicides and 2 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.06 per 100,000 men and for women 1.13 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Belize. However, in Belize in 2005 there were there were 81 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 5.8 homicides per suicide.
