In Belarus there were 35.65 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 10.34 suicides per 100,000 people.
Belarus has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 3,476 recorded suicide cases in 2005, 2,862 were men suicides and 614 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 62.83 per 100,000 men and for women 11.82 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Belarus suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 825 homicides in Belarus, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 4.2 suicides.
