Suicides increase in Bahrain

In 2007 occurred 69 suicides in Bahrain. This year, 19 more people committed suicide than in 2006.

Bahrain had 6.6 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 69 recorded suicide cases in 2007, 58 were men suicides and 11 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.05 per 100,000 men and for women 2.68 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Bahrain suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 4 homicides in Bahrain, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 17.3 suicides.
