In May, vehicle registrations in United States fell by 5.72% with respect to May of 1996. In total, 1,435,800 cars were registered and 15,345,100 new cars were sold in the last twelve months, 0.9% less than the year before.
The breakdown of car sales figures for the month of May is:
- Commercial vehicles sold: 668,500, 1.95% more than in May of 1996.
- Passenger cars regitrations: 767,300, which represents a figure of 11.52% less than in May of 1996.
