In 2016, the national minimum wage in Kazakhstan remained fixed at €61.6 per month, that is 739 euros per year, taking into account 12 payments per year.
If we look at the minimum salary in Tenges, which is the official currency in Kazakhstan, we can see that, this year, it was 22,859 Tenges and accordingly, the national minimum wage has been raised 1,495 Tenges per month from the previous year, 7%. This increase is less than the CPI of 2015 which was 13.6%,and so workers, despite the raise, have lost buying power in the last year.
If we look at the ranking of the national minimum wage that we publish, Kazakhstan is in 98 nd place, so it is among the countries with the lowest minimum salary of the 114 of the list.
