In 2019, the national minimum wage in India remained fixed at €58.1 per month, that is 697 euros per year, taking into account 12 payments per year.
If we look at the minimum salary in Indian rupees, which is the official currency in India, we can see that, this year, it was 4,628 Indian rupees and accordingly, the national minimum wage has been raised 52 Indian rupees per month from the previous year, 1.14%. This increase is less than the CPI of 2018 which was 5.2%,and so workers, despite the raise, have lost buying power in the last year.
If we look at the ranking of the national minimum wage that we publish, India is in 104 nd place, so it is among the countries with the lowest minimum salary of the 116 of the list.
