Suicides increase in United Arab Emirates

In 2007 occurred 196 suicides in United Arab Emirates. This year, 23 more people committed suicide than in 2006.

United Arab Emirates had 3.15 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10 self-harm per 100.000 people.

United Arab Emirates, has a relatively low rate of suicide per inhabitants.

Of the 196 recorded suicide cases in 2007, 180 were men suicides and 16 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 4.3 per 100,000 men and for women 0.96 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In United Arab Emirates suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 39 homicides in United Arab Emirates, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 5 suicides.
