Number of suicides increases in Mauritania

In 2007 around 179 suicides occurred in Mauritania, 7 more than in 2006.

Mauritania reported 5.89 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 179 recorded suicide cases in 2007, 126 were men suicides and 53 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 8.04 per 100,000 men and for women 3.35 per 100,000 female.
