Number of suicides increases in Kyrgyzstan

In 2007 around 552 suicides occurred in Kyrgyzstan, 9 more than in 2006. In Kyrgyzstan, on average, at least one suicide happens every year.

Kyrgyzstan reported 10.53 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 10 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 552 recorded suicide cases in 2007, 425 were men suicides and 128 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 16.51 per 100,000 men and for women 4.74 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Kyrgyzstan suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 416 homicides in Kyrgyzstan, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.3 suicides.
