Number of suicides increases in Kuwait

In 2007 around 71 suicides occurred in Kuwait, 6 more than in 2006.

Kuwait reported 2.1 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Kuwait has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 71 recorded suicide cases in 2007, 54 were men suicides and 18 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 3.68 per 100,000 men and for women 1.71 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Kuwait suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 59 homicides in Kuwait, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.2 suicides.
