Belarus has a very high suicide rate

In 2007 around 2,850 suicides occurred in Belarus, 364 less than in 2006. In 2007, on average 8 Belarusians committed suicide every day.

Belarus reported 29.41 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 10 suicides per 100,000 people.

Belarus has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 2,850 recorded suicide cases in 2007, 2,314 were men suicides and 535 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 51.18 per 100,000 men and for women 10.36 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Belarus suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 649 homicides in Belarus, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 4.4 suicides.
