Slovenia has a very high suicide rate

By 2001, suicides in Slovenia increased by 7 people to at 581 suicides In Slovenia, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

In Slovenia there were 29.2 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 10.88 suicides per 100,000 people.

Slovenia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 581 recorded suicide cases in 2001, 459 were men suicides and 122 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 47.1 per 100,000 men and for women 12 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Slovenia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 28 homicides in Slovenia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 20.8 suicides.
