Of the 2,426 recorded suicide cases in 2001, 1,868 were men suicides and 558 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.3 per 100,000 men and for women 2.7 per 100,000 female.
Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Colombia. However, in Colombia in 2001 there were there were 27,840 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 11.5 homicides per suicide.
