Yemen - Intentional self-harm

By 2001, suicides in Yemen increased by 74 people to at 1,334 suicides In 2001, on average 4 Yemenis committed suicide every day.

In Yemen there were 7.25 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.88 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 1,334 recorded suicide cases in 2001, 903 were men suicides and 431 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.36 per 100,000 men and for women 4.54 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Yemen suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 697 homicides in Yemen, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 1.9 suicides.
