Suicides grow in Singapore

By 2004, suicides in Singapore increased by 12 people to at 548 suicides In Singapore, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

In Singapore there were 13.16 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 10.53 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 548 recorded suicide cases in 2004, 352 were men suicides and 196 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 16.7 per 100,000 men and for women 9.53 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Singapore suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 20 homicides in Singapore, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 27.4 suicides.
