Sierra Leone had 13.81 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.47 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 990 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 670 were men suicides and 320 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 19.13 per 100,000 men and for women 9.06 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Sierra Leone suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 124 homicides in Sierra Leone, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 8 suicides.
