There are 11 suicides per day in Italy

In 2001 occurred 4,030 suicides in Italy. This year, 78 fewer people committed suicide than in 2000. In 2001, on average 11 Italians committed suicide every day.

Italy had 7.1 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.88 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 4,030 recorded suicide cases in 2001, 3,050 were men suicides and 980 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 11.1 per 100,000 men and for women 3.3 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Italy suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 709 homicides in Italy, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 5.7 suicides.
