Estonia has a very high suicide rate

By 2001, suicides in Estonia increased by 24 people to at 401 suicides In Estonia, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

In Estonia there were 29.2 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 10.88 suicides per 100,000 people.

Estonia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 401 recorded suicide cases in 2001, 315 were men suicides and 86 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 49.4 per 100,000 men and for women 11.7 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Estonia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 137 homicides in Estonia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.9 suicides.
