In Cuba there were 14.81 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 10.88 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 1,649 recorded suicide cases in 2001, 1,203 were men suicides and 446 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 21.54 per 100,000 men and for women 8.04 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Cuba suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 605 homicides in Cuba, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.7 suicides.
