Chile had 10.5 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.88 self-harm per 100.000 people.
Of the 1,625 recorded suicide cases in 2001, 1,392 were men suicides and 233 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 18.2 per 100,000 men and for women 3 per 100,000 female.
