In 2022 around 2,100 suicides occurred in Chile, 529 more than in 2021. In 2022, on average 6 Chileans committed suicide every day.

Chile reported 10.6 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.15 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 2,100 recorded suicide cases in 2022, 1,713 were men suicides and 387 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 17.5 per 100,000 men and for women 3.9 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Chile suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,330 homicides in Chile, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.6 suicides.
