Mozambique had 9.81 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.88 self-harm per 100.000 people.
Of the 1,788 recorded suicide cases in 2001, 1,305 were men suicides and 483 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 14.71 per 100,000 men and for women 5.17 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Mozambique suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,100 homicides in Mozambique, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.6 suicides.
