Suicides decreased in Bosnia and Herzegovina

In 2001 around 358 suicides occurred in Bosnia and Herzegovina, 15 less than in 2000.

Bosnia and Herzegovina reported 9.4 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.88 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 358 recorded suicide cases in 2001, 288 were men suicides and 70 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 15.4 per 100,000 men and for women 3.62 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Bosnia and Herzegovina suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 82 homicides in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 4.4 suicides.
