Lithuania has the highest suicide rate in the world

By 2004, suicides in Lithuania increased by 74 people to at 1,381 suicides In 2004, on average 4 Lithuanians committed suicide every day.

In Lithuania there were 40.9 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 10.53 suicides per 100,000 people.

Lithuania has the highest suicide rate in the world.

Of the 1,381 recorded suicide cases in 2004, 1,124 were men suicides and 257 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 71.4 per 100,000 men and for women 14.2 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Lithuania suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 343 homicides in Lithuania, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 4 suicides.
