Ethiopia - Intentional self-harm

In 2001 occurred 5,943 suicides in Ethiopia. This year, 71 fewer people committed suicide than in 2000. In 2001, on average 16 Ethiopians committed suicide every day.

Ethiopia had 9.09 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.88 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 5,943 recorded suicide cases in 2001, 4,715 were men suicides and 1,228 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 13.62 per 100,000 men and for women 3.57 per 100,000 female.
