Haiti - Intentional self-harm

In 2015 occurred 1,200 suicides in Haiti. This year, 19 more people committed suicide than in 2014. In 2015, on average 3 Haitians committed suicide every day.

Haiti had 11.36 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.51 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 1,200 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 870 were men suicides and 330 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 16.58 per 100,000 men and for women 6.2 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Haiti suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,071 homicides in Haiti, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.1 suicides.
