POVERTY RISK BY COUNTRY
The people at-risk-of-poverty rate is the percentage of the population that is below the at-risk-of-poverty threshold. The population at risk of poverty measures how many people have low incomes in relation to the population as a whole. It does not measure absolute poverty, it is a relative indicator that measures inequality.
The poverty line is the income below which a person or family is considered to be at risk of poverty. It is not a fixed figure, but varies according to the income of the population of the country or region in question. As income increases, the threshold increases and, as income decreases, so does the poverty threshold. The poverty line is 60% of the median income per consumption unit of the people in a country or region.
