In Zambia there were 6.47 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.78 self-harm per 100.000 people.
Of the 987 recorded suicide cases in 2013, 757 were men suicides and 231 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.1 per 100,000 men and for women 2.98 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Zambia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 867 homicides in Zambia, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.1 suicides.
