Serbia - Intentional self-harm

In 2013 occurred 1,198 suicides in Serbia. This year, 46 fewer people committed suicide than in 2012. In 2013, on average 3 Serbians committed suicide every day.

Serbia had 16.75 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 9.78 suicides per 100,000 people.

Serbia is a country with a high rate of suicide.

Of the 1,198 recorded suicide cases in 2013, 902 were men suicides and 296 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 25.91 per 100,000 men and for women 8.05 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Serbia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 139 homicides in Serbia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 8.6 suicides.
