Austria has a very high suicide rate

In 1968 occurred 1,612 suicides in Austria. This year, 28 fewer people committed suicide than in 1967. In 1968, on average 4 Austrians committed suicide every day.

Austria had 21.7 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 11.66 suicides per 100,000 people.

Austria has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 1,612 recorded suicide cases in 1968, 1,113 were men suicides and 499 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 31.9 per 100,000 men and for women 12.7 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
