Australia had 12.2 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.26 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 3,136 recorded suicide cases in 2020, 2,382 were men suicides and 754 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 18.7 per 100,000 men and for women 5.8 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Australia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 221 homicides in Australia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 14.2 suicides.
