Austria had 12.2 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.11 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 1,127 recorded suicide cases in 2021, 901 were men suicides and 226 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 19.9 per 100,000 men and for women 4.8 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Austria suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 65 homicides in Austria, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 17.3 suicides.
