This amount means that the debt in 2016 reached 132% of Italy GDP, a 0.5 percentage point rise from 2015, when it was 131.5% of GDP.

According to the last data point published, Italy per capita debt in 2016 was 36,615 euros40,529 dollars per inhabitant. In 2015 it was 35,825 euros 39,748 dollars, afterwards rising by 790 euros781 dollars, and if we again check 2006 we can see that then the debt per person was 27,275 euros34,247 dollars .
The position of Italy, as compared with the rest of the world, has remained in 2016 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 180 in the list of debt to GDP and 179 in debt per capita, out of the 184 we publish.
