Suicides grow in Namibia

By 2013, suicides in Namibia increased by 4 people to at 183 suicides

In Namibia there were 8.33 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.78 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 183 recorded suicide cases in 2013, 137 were men suicides and 46 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 12.81 per 100,000 men and for women 4.08 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Namibia. However, in Namibia in 2013 there were there were 388 homicides, and therefore, number of deaths by murder is far greater than people to take their own lives. There were 2.1 homicides per suicide.
