Number of suicides increases in Montenegro

In 2006 around 75 suicides occurred in Montenegro, 3 more than in 2005.

Montenegro reported 12.26 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 10.12 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 75 recorded suicide cases in 2006, 52 were men suicides and 23 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 17.25 per 100,000 men and for women 7.43 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Montenegro suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 25 homicides in Montenegro, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3 suicides.
