In 1971 around 358 suicides occurred in Mexico, 196 less than in 1970.

Mexico reported 0.7 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 11.63 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 358 recorded suicide cases in 1971, 289 were men suicides and 69 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 1.1 per 100,000 men and for women 0.3 per 100,000 female.
