Number of suicides increases in Lebanon

In 2013 around 158 suicides occurred in Lebanon, 15 more than in 2012.

Lebanon reported 2.67 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.78 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Lebanon, has a relatively low rate of suicide per inhabitants.

Of the 158 recorded suicide cases in 2013, 103 were men suicides and 55 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 3.64 per 100,000 men and for women 1.93 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Lebanon. However, in Lebanon in 2013 there were there were 236 homicides, then, homicides are more common than suicides. There were 1.5 homicides per suicide.
